Barcode Scanning

GraySky Technologies has expertise in 1D and 2D barcode scanning applications for inventory and data collection systems. The use of the Symbol PPT 2800, eMbedded Visual Tools (eVC++), and using ADOCE allows applications to be developed that can easily sychronize with both Microsoft Access desktop databases or Microsoft SQL Server.
GraySky Technologies recommends using ADOCE version 3.1 if you plan on writing data to a .CDB file instead of the native ADO data structure.

Barcode technologies provide a simple means for a product/item to be identified by reading the barcode with a barcode reader. The barcodes themselves are a font or image that is printed and place on the object. The barcode information is then reference with a data repository that details the product. There are two types of barcodes. The 1-D barcode that appears on most products and 2-D barcodes that have made their way into the market with increasing enthusiasm are the two types of barcodes available.

GraySky Technologies has experience with both 1-D and 2-D barcode scanning and printing.

PDF417 font is the standards for 2D barcoding. From drivers' licenses to social services and national ID cards, PDF417 is used to encode ID information. PDF417 can store and transfer large amounts of data securely and inexpensively. A single PDF417 symbol carries up to 1.1 kilobytes of machine-readable data and it can contain biometric data files such as photographs, fingerprints, and signatures, as well as text, numerics and graphics. Symbol's total solution approach to PDF417 includes an extensive line of high performance products capable of reading both PDF417 and 1-D symbols. 2D codes give us the ability to attach data files to physical objects. By doing so, we can track items and information at the same time.
